SAFCA to construct Florin Creek Multi-Use Basin Project

On April 17, 2014, the SAFCA Board approved implementation of the Florin Creek Multi-Use Basin Project. This $4 million project includes constructing two detention basins at Florin Creek Park, which will provide off-stream flood control storage from Florin Creek during extreme storm events. This project, in conjunction with the Florin Creek Channel Project being constructed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will reduce the flood risk for 450 properties in the area and provide financial relief from mandatory, high-cost flood insurance.
